Hello everyone and thanks for checking out my new website. I have worked for over a month on developing this site from the ground up, and it definitely took a while to get things customized and working smoothly. This will be my home base where all things photography will be shared, because while I recognize the value of Instagram and the power of social media, I have serious concerns about the image quality, the algorithm, and the long term viability of the platform. I have really become absorbed with my photography over the past three years and though it was primarily aerial work for the first few years, it has evolved to much more than that. This is one of the reasons that I have changed my photography identity from “Upabovegeorgia” to my full name. I’ll be honest though, it was a tough decision to make. I have been all over Georgia taking photos and countless times I have met people and shared my Instagram name only to have them say “hey, I follow you!”. So, it is certainly something I mulled over for quite a while, because I feel like my online identity is changing.
But the main impetus behind all of this isn’t necessarily the fact that I am taking a lot of traditional, non-aerial photographs lately. It is because my book will be published this April, and my name will be on that cover, and I am guessing some of the readers might want to find my photographs online. By rebranding all of my works and accounts to my actual name, it will make that process easy and straightforward.
This might be a lot more information than you wanted to know, but I wanted to provide a bit of the backstory for how this site came about. If you look around you will find lots of my photos in the galleries, and I think they look far better on here than they do on the tiny Instagram feed. I hope you bookmark this site and swing back by from time to time, I am committed to keeping it updated with my latest work as well as news related to all of my photographic endeavors. If you want to be notified anytime I make a new post, please subscribe to this website over on the right (you won’t receive any spam or ads, don’t worry!).
